Women Thriving. Colorado Rising.

we are A Unique Statewide Foundation

WFCO Is Committed to the Needs of Women Across Our State

The Women's Foundation of Colorado is a unique statewide community foundation that creates more pathways to prosperity for all Colorado women.

From Moffat to Montezuma and Boulder to Bent counties, there is place for anyone at WFCO who cares about the advancement of women. Since 1987, we have been a statewide community foundation through grantmaking, research, advocacy, philanthropy, education, and more.

Grantmaking

In 2020, WFCO made grants to 100 nonprofit organizations serving women in all 64 Colorado counties through the WFCO Relief Fund. In 2021, we launched our Women & Girls of Color Fund by granting to 12 organizations serving 23 counties. Front Range grants will be made in fall 2021. Additionally, our WAGES and new WINcome grantee cohort are made up of public policy and direct-service organizations across the state.

Additionally, our donor-advised funds and giving circles invest in organizations across the state. In fact, the Pueblo Area Giving Circle was started in 2021 to support women and girls who strive toward leadership and family development in Pueblo and surrounding areas.

Research

Through our research, we seek to understand the specific economic challenges and opportunities of Colorado women of every background and identity. In recent years, we have partnered with grantee partners and other agencies to understand the cost for families to meet basic necessities in every county of Colorado, the Economic Status of Colorado Women, how a $12 minimum wage would impact Colorado women, and more.

Education

Technology is helping WFCO forge connections across distances near and far. We focus on hosting high-quality, informative, and interactive statewide virtual events that are inclusive of individuals in communities across the state.

Recent opportunities to learn with us included learning about 2020 ballot issues; the Equal Pay for Equal Work Act; Chat4Change; monthly Advocating for Impact trainings, and the Annual Luncheon.

Upcoming opportunities include our 2022 Annual Luncheon, which also be held in person at the Colorado Convention Center.

WFCO Community Action Network

Through quarterly virtual meetings, we’re connecting individuals from across the state to our work and each other – so we can build momentum together to advance opportunity for Colorado women. Whether you’ve been involved in our work for years or you recently learned about The Foundation, we welcome you! Topics vary, but we see each meeting as an opportunity for us to learn from you about your communities and you to learn from our experts about statewide issues. Together, we are stronger.

Advocacy

From 2018-2020, WFCO held in-person Lobby Days at the Capitol, drawing dozens of women from across the state to meet their legislators, learn about the key issues impacting Colorado women, and gain skills and confidence to be part of the advocacy process. With the pandemic in 2021, we launched in place of Lobby Day a series of Advocating for Impact trainings.
