Women in STEM Leading Sustainability: Building & Brewing
Please join The Women’s Foundation of Colorado and our community of supporters in Northern Colorado for an evening of inspiration with a spotlight on innovative women who are leading sustainability efforts.
Tuesday, April 10, 2018 (Equal Pay Day!)
7:00 - 9:00 p.m.
Odell Brewing Co. | Fort Collins
Grab a drink and learn more about the women who are leading the charge for sustainability at Odell Brewing and beyond. We’ll discuss how a more inclusive workforce increases innovation and explore the positive effects already taking place in our community. You’ll also hear about WFCO’s work to support women in the workforce across the state. Odell Brewing Company has generously donated the space for this event as well as the first round of beers!
Meet our speakers
Corey Odell, Sustainability Coordinator, Odell Brewing Company
Corey studied Ecology at the University of Colorado Boulder and is excited to join her love for beer and the environment in her position. Odell Brewing has been sustainably oriented from the very start and Corey is currently working to bring together all the ideas and efforts of co-workers to bring the brewery to Zero Landfill and to minimize natural resource use throughout. She is also interested in bringing Odell together with sustainable efforts around Fort Collins and Northern Colorado.
Corkie Odell, Culture Maven, Odell Brewing Company
Corkie joined her brother and sister-in-law to start Odell Brewing Company in 1989. She started out helping Doug brew and as the business grew, her interests lead her in the direction of Human Resources. After hiring a Director of HR in 2016, she is now in an advisory role. She has served on a number of civic, business and non-profit boards over the last 30 years.
Rebecca Spears, Principal, RB+B Architects
Rebecca Spears is a Principal and Architect with RB+B Architects. Rebecca’s talents are wide-ranging: not only does her professional resume include building projects throughout Northern Colorado, but she is a force to be reckoned with on the mountain bike trails. A member of Team BOB (“Babes on Bikes”) and an avid snowboarder, Rebecca enjoys taking advantage of all that Colorado has to offer in the form of outdoor recreation. Rebecca hails from the Midwest -- a Colorado transplant from Iowa where she was raised and then attended Iowa State University. Her favorite aspect of the profession of architecture is working with clients to form spaces that both serve their needs, and elevate their experience. Rebecca is dedicated to leading an office where 50% of her peers are female while also raising the bar for women in STEM-related fields.
