Vail Valley Regional Committee

The Vail Valley Regional Committee has been actively engaging the 40 miles between Vail and Gypsum throughout the Foundation’s history. Through planning and hosting an annual luncheon and raffle; building awareness with local educational events; and sharing timely, relevant research and supporting public policy efforts, the Vail Valley Regional Committee is building a network for women, girls, and community partners from the region and growing regional strategic philanthropy.

By supporting WFCO, you will be working toward systemic change with others from your community to address the following issues facing women and girls across the state:

  • In the Vail Valley, almost 10% of women are living at poverty level.

  • In the Vail Valley, single mothers earn approximately $29,000, and the cost of child care can be nearly half their income.

  • Women working in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) fields earn 33% more than in other fields and Colorado has the highest number per capita of entry-level STEM jobs, yet women represent only 24% of the STEM work-force. Too many women are discouraged at a young age from pursuing their scientific interests and lack female role models and mentors who could help them achieve success in STEM careers.
